One of only 20 community nonprofit organizations across the country - and the only one in Tennessee - The Foundation was recently awarded a generous grant from The Lance Armstrong Foundation to launch Life Coaching for Living Beyond Cancer. Each year at our annual Young Adult Cancer Survivor Retreat, participants wow us with their artistic skills during art sessions held throughout the weekend retreat. To honor their work and to share their paintings from the heart, we are making note card sets of survivor art now available for purchase (12 note cards per box - $15). The 2008 Pearl Ball, presented by StoneCrest Medical Center and benefiting The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation, will be held Saturday, October 18th at The Sam Davis Home in Smyrna, Tennessee. Dollars raised at the Pearl Ball are earmarked for cancer research and education in Rutherford County.

FOR TRAVEL ASSISTANCEThe grant was awarded by the Greater Nashville Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The funds are being used to provide financial assistance to breast cancer patients whose travel from rural areas to Metropolitan Nashville area hospitals for treatment poses financial hardship.
Cancer In The Workplace, developed by The Foundation, is an educational resource for companies that want to better understand the implications of a cancer diagnosis among their employees, as well as to offer better workplace support to employees during cancer treatment. Click here to read more.
